The US Military has a vast global reach, but a shortage of translators.  Missions beyond the battlefield including humanitarian assistance, medical assistance, geo-political and civil affairs, intelligence, peacetime operations and training are impacted due to limited resources of skilled personnel. So how has and does technology aid where there is a shortage of skilled and experienced translators and interpreters.  What will the needs of the US Military in terms of language technology be over the course of the next 20 years?
